Tying The Foxy Clouser Fly Pattern

The foxy clouser is a streamer pattern that can be used for a wide variety of species. This fly can be used for anything from bass to even saltwater fishing. The original pattern calls for fox fur however I don't currently have any that is the length needed for this fly so I will be using tan craft fur. This fly is tied in a similar way as the standard clouser minnow. If you have never tied the original clouser I recommend you start there.

Materials needed:
•Streamer hook of any appropriate size for your target species
   •Dumbell eyes
   •Flashabou in copper and pearl
   •Tan craft fur
   •Bright orange or red thread

Step 1:
Bring the thread around 1/3 of the way down the hook shank.

Step 2:
Tie in the dumbell eyes and apply a drop of head cement to the eyes.

Step 3:
Tie in 3 strands of copper flash and 3 strands of pearl flash by v-tying.

Step 4:
Tie in another strand of pearl flash and wrap it over the thread. Once you do this you can apply a drop of head cement on the exposed thread.

Step 5:
Tie in the tan craft fur on the bottom side of the hook.

Step 6(optional):
Use a black sharpie to create stripes on the craft fur.
I recommend fishing this fly by either stripping it in short bursts or long and smooth strips and strip setting when you get a bite.
